Student Work

This page displays student work that I have accumulated in the past few years of my teaching career!

State Floats

Each month, I had my 5th graders complete a monthly project. For November, they had to create a State Float that presented facts about a state they wanted to research. They then shared their floats with the class!

Shadow Puppets

In order to share what they learned about shadows, my third graders created shadow puppets and shadow puppets shows!

Wax Museum

As a part of Black History Month, my 5th grade students created a Living Wax Museum. They researched influential African Americans and shared what they learned with their peers.

Compass Points

Visible Thinking routines give students the opportunity to share what they are thinking and discuss with their peers. It also allows them to think deeper about content. In this routine, my students wrote about the "Compass Points" (N-What do you Need to know about Prezi, E: What Excites you about using Prezi?, S: What Sequence of events should we include on our Prezi?, W: What worries you about Prezi?) for the App "Prezi."

Chalk Talk

Another Visible Thinking routine, my students "Chalk Talked" about what they know about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Articles of Confederation. During a Chalk Talk, the teacher should only hear pencils "talking." A Chalk Talk is used to spark prior knowledge!

Student Led Conferences

This past year, my students led their own conferences. They had a packet to complete that included their grades, what they learned, what else they want to learn, and goals they have for the rest of the year!

Tweet All About it

In third grade, we focus a lot of time working on summarizing. In this activity, my students "tweeted" about what we were learning in any subject. Their tweets just had to be 140 characters and summaraize what they learned!
